More books, more walks, less pints
Keeping a tally of all the things I want to do more and less of this year
And somehow… it’s February? I’m not sure how that happened.
I didn’t make any proper resolutions this year but I did download a tally count app at the beginning of January. The way it works is simple, you just list as many things as you like then keep count of them. My list divides itself pretty clearly into two categories: things I want to do more of (moving, reading, writing, swimming) and things I want to do less of (drinking, crying).
I also have one I’m keeping count of purely out of curiosity, and that’s how many beds I sleep in this year. Given that I don’t really live anywhere at the moment, I figure that number may end up being fairly high. So far I’m on 11. This includes one holiday cottage, my parents’ house, four friends’ spare rooms and five hotel beds. If you’re going to give up your fixed address then my main tip is to find a job that regularly involves other people putting you up in a hotel. Pros: you’re almost always sleeping in fresh sheets and you get to visit a lot …
