How I paid for my 10-month run and ideas for funding your own adventure

Last week I shared how much my 10-month run around the coast of Britain cost. Today I’m telling you exactly how I raised that cash. As you’ll know if you read part one, it definitely wasn’t from the contents of my own bank account which was very much in the red at the time.

I know that I’ve spent a lot of time scrolling through Instagram, looking at other people doing cool things and just wondering, how are they affording this? At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I feel increasingly strongly that we need to be more open about the financial side of adventures (and everything else too!). Otherwise it’s so easy to just sit at home wondering how everybody else is doing things and then feeling rubbish if we can’t manage the same ourselves. Even if the answer from some people is that they do just have a magic money tree (good for you, no judgement), at least being honest about that would mean everybody else could stop comparing themselves.
